Anniversary edition of Red Bull X-Alps begins
20 Years Red Bull X-Alps
It was 20 years ago, in 2003, that two friends came up with an idea that became ‘the world’s toughest adventure race’. One was the adventurer, pilot and climber Hannes Arch. The other was Ulrich Grill, CEO of zooom productions. The concept was simple: to hike and fly across the Alps.
Shaping the Adventure & Action Sports Landscape
This edition the race celebrates 20 years – and the 2023 edition looks set to be as epic as ever. For the first time the race started in the Kitzbühel - Kirchberg region, kicking off with a one day Prologue on June 8 with the main 12-day race following on June 11.
The race is owned, managed and run by zooom productions – and it’s always one of the busiest events in our calendar. It is supported by VW Commercial Vehicles, Salewa, Bullitt Satellite and many other partners. This year there are 32 athletes, including four women taking on the gruelling race. Ahead lies a 1,223km route around the Alps via 15 Turnpoints. It promises to be a wild adventure.
