A true challenge for only the most hardy paragliding pilots with a taste for endurance sports, the Red Bull X-Alps takes competitors from Salzburg, Austria to Monaco – and the only way to move is hiking or paraglider flight.

This year’s new route explores territory not yet seen before in eight previous editions. Tackling 13 turnpoints and spanning over 1100 straight-line kilometers, navigating the route quickly will be like playing chess with the mountains as the athletes race against each other and themselves. While there’s always a little bit of luck, it’s a true test of their piloting, route-finding and strategic skills as they explore some of the most iconic locations in the Alps.
