Red Bull X-Alps – Never seen before route revealed
Featuring famous destinations like Kitzbühel-Kirchberg, St. Moritz and Zell am See
Big news! We can finally share the new route of the world’s toughest adventure race – Red Bull X-Alps – with you! Zooom has been organizing this one of a kind hike-and-fly race across the Alps for more than twenty years now. With each edition we evolve the race and this time there is one big change to the route – it features an X-Turnpoint at its center. This never seen before Turnpoint is located in the famous Swiss resort St. Moritz and athletes have to pass it twice, once on their way out and then again when they are heading towards the goal.
On June 15 the race starts in the world-famous ski resort and mountain town of Kitzbühel-Kirchberg, which is also the location of the one-day Prologue on June 12. The route then follows a figure of eight course that goes as far west as the French destination Les 2 Alpes, the most western Turnpoint ever. At 1,283km this is the longest route in the history of Red Bull X-Alps with a record number of 16 Turnpoints:
Start – Kitzbühel, TP1 – Hahnenkamm , TP2 – Sexten Dolomites, TP3 – Toblinger Knoten, TP4 – Merano 2000, TP5 – Schenna, TP-X – St. Moritz, TP7 – Disentis Sedrun, TP8 – Niesen, TP9 – Mont Blanc, TP10 – Les 2 Alpes, TP11 – Ascona-Locarno, TP12 – Bellinzona, TP-X – St. Moritz , TP14 – Zugspitze, TP15 – Lermoos – Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, TP16 – Schmittenhöhe, Goal – Zell am See

Racing for 12 days straight
The 12th edition of Red Bull X-Alps demonstrates once again how tough the world’s toughest adventure race really is. This extremely demanding battle across the Alps lasts 12 days and athletes run, hike, mountaineer and fly by paraglider up to 150km a day. Zooom has been there from the start. The race was founded in 2003 by the late adventurer Hannes Arch and our CEO Ulrich Grill and has taken place every two years since. Every edition since 2009 has been won by the Swiss phenomenon Chrigel Maurer.
Don’t miss a beat of the race with our 3D Live tracking
In this edition, the 35 athletes from 17 nations must cross the main ridge of the Alps four times and will also hike and fly in five different alpine countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. You can follow the action in real time with our revolutionary 3D Live Tracking on redbullxalps.com so stay tuned.
Organizing everything to the last detail
We celebrated the Route Announcement with our partners and international media in a stunning location, handling every aspect of the setup - from physical branding elements and digital assets to a 3D-animated flythrough of the route – making sure every detail was perfectly executed. With various content productions going on simultaneously, this was not an easy feat, but thanks to our wide range of expertise we were able to pull it off.
